I thought it was really interesting that Rebel wine club only uses 10 winemakers located throughout the world to provide them with her my selections for the month. Revel wine club is based out of California and was developed by Winery Exchange,  which is one of the top 31 making companies in the United States according to the Wine Business Monthly.

Revel wine club doesn’t market to the average wine corner store that has expensive taste. If you’re a wine lover interested in trying award-winning wines that evolved in handcrafted, Revel wine offers wine selections at prices that are incredibly affordable.

Are you interested in learning about what I got in my very first shipment of Revel wine club? I tried out the subscription to see if it was worth the hype. Keep reading to learn what I received my shipment, plus my thoughts about this wine club!

What I received in my shipment

I signed up for the largest wine club that Revel wine club offers, which was $144 for 12 bottles of wine. I ordered a mix of white and red wines in my Revel Wine club box.

Shipment for my Rebel one box to take a little longer before it arrived at my doorstep. It took about two weeks for my Revel wine club shipment to be delivered.

When I first opened up my shipment box, I was greeted with a rebel wine club card, a handwritten note, and an invoice of the wines that I received in my box.

As I removed the layers of cardboard, I began to realize that I had received two bottles of the same wine. After unboxing the entire shipment,  I had been sent duplicates of six wines. Basically, I only received six different types of wine in my box, but I received two bottles of each wine.

I checked over the invoice to make sure that there wasn’t some sort of mistake.  My invoice contained the following information that was supposed to be included in my box:

  • 2015 Light Horse Chardonnay (2)
  • Flat Handwritten Welcome card (1)
  • Your Wine club 6 x 8 coll insert (1)
  • Orange Revel branded tape (1)- This was missing from my box
  • 2014 Shadowland Riesling (2)
  • 2016 Greater Than One 2 Varietal Rose (2)
  • 2016 Flo Chardonnay (2)
  • 2016 Goats Trail Pinot Grigio (2)
  • 2016 Reata Chardonnay (2)

Well, I don’t know what the orange Rebel brand of tape was supposed to be, this is missing for my shipment. However, after going to the invoice, I realized that it was intentional Revel Wine Club sent me duplicates in my shipment.

I was very frustrated by this, considering that I paid close to $150 in wine to try 12 different bottles of wine. I thought this was incredibly misleading, especially because there wasn’t anything identified on the website when I was purchasing the ship and that I would only be receiving six varieties of wine and not 12.

2015 Light Horse Chardonnay- Market Value of $13

Upon further research, I found that the Light Horse Chardonnay stories caused by turning a portion of its profits to those at risk of developing autism. This white wine unfolded layers of hair, how you feel, and tropical fruits. I found that this Light Horse Chardonnay had a rich mouth field, followed with a satisfying finish.

2014 Shadowland Riseling- Market Value of $12

I found that the 2014 Shadowland Riseling was perfectly balanced, fruity white wine. There were stonefruit flavors that were balanced with a hint of sweetness, along with acidity. The finish of this 2014 Shadowland Riseling was very delicate!

2016 Greater Than One 2 Varietal Rose- Market Value of $14

This Rose was absolutely beautiful! I loved the textured body of pear and lychee. The 2016 Greater Than One 2 Varietal Rose had a refreshingly crisp and bright taste to it.

2016 Flo Chardonnay- Market Value of $20

This Chardonnay offered notes of toasty oak, apple, citrus, and pear. I appreciated the bright fruit flavor that I was first introduced to, but finished off with a subtle oak taste. A very rich Chardonnay!

2016 Goats Trail Pinot Grigio- Market Value of $16

The Goats Trail Pinot Grigio had notes of tropical fruit and pear. I thought that this would be a beautiful wine to enjoy in the summer! A beautiful fruity white wine.

2016 Reata Chardonnay- Market Value of $18

After researching this wine a little more, I found that some of this wine was barrel fermented and aged in French oak. By aging this wine in French oak, the 2016 Reata Chardonnay had gentle notes of butterscotch and hazelnut. There’s also a bright acidity taste, which added balance and complexity to this Chardonnay!

Is Revel Wine Club worth the money?

Now I did only try out this one subscription bad trouble wine club offers, however, this is the most expensive subscription about the extra effort to impress those who sign up for the largest products that the company sells. However, this is not the case with the Revel wine club.

That being said, I don’t think that the Revel wine club was worth the money.  I’m extremely disappointed that I spent nearly $150 on a product that was misleading. If I had known that I was going to get duplicates of eating the ones that were sent in my box, I would have just paid the same amount of money in order to get different subscription boxes from the Revel wine club.

When I went to cancel my subscription, I couldn’t get ahold of anybody over the phone number that they have listed on the website. Instead, I had to reach out via email and it took 2 days for Steve responsible company. Said if the company confirming that they were going to cancel my subscription, they instead sent an email responding to why I was interested in canceling my subscription.

Once I listed reasons why I was just satisfied with scripture to want to cancel, I never heard back from the company. I also never received a confirmation email that my subscription was canceled with them. However, I haven’t been charged again for my monthly wine delivery.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about Revel Wine Club, but I didn’t have a good experience with this company at all. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of customer service, the poor communication from the company, and I don’t feel like the cost of this subscription was worth it at all.

If you want to try $150 worth of wines, I would recommend a different subscription company.

A few other subscription companies that you’ll have better luck with are:

SomMailier Wine Subscription Club

  • The entire value of this box was $187

Cons:

  • Poor customer service

Final Impressions of the Revel Wine Club

I wouldn’t recommend Revel wine clubs to anybody. The only people that I would recommend Revel Wine club to are people who are exclusively looking for organic wine or sulfite-free wines because this is the only place that I’ve ever found those types of wines readily available.
